The Frontend Friday Feud

Our panelists will go head-to-head, debating the merits of assorted CSS concepts like Flexbox vs. CSS Grid, various CSS frameworks, color values, stylesheet formatting, and more! Though they’ll have pre-planned issues to discuss, they will also be accepting topic suggestions and arguments from the audience. Come be a part of the action in this highly interactive CSS panel!

Jörn’s been building web applications for over 2 decades. At compose.us he develops custom software and helps to level up teams for their clients. When he’s not working, he co-organizes JSCraftCamp in Munich and found way too much pleasure in using CSS gradients.

Meg is a Ruby on Rails developer at Penn Medicine with a passion for open source and tech for good. She’s always smiling, continuously learning, and quick to strike up a conversation. She takes advice with a grain of salt & a shot of tequila.

Dan Ott is a developer and designer with Sprokets. He’s been working on the web since 2005 to plan, design, and implement projects ranging from old php/mysql apps to modern web apps to mobile apps, and lots of things in between. He’s also a father to two ridiculous boys and one absurd dog, an Eagle Scout, and an org maintainer at Virtual Coffee.

Nick is a developer advocate at Pomerium, a zero trust, identity-aware proxy platform that enables secure, clientless connections to web applications and services without a corporate VPN.

With over a decade of open source contributions and five years of professional open source experience at companies like OpenSauced, dev.to, Netlify and now Pomerium, he brings deep community knowledge to his work. You’ll often find him live streaming tech content, either solo or with friends from the community.

Although he’s a huge fan of open source, he’s not a big fan of spiders.

A full stack developer in Alberta Canada interested in Functional Programming, Domain Driven Development, and Sudoku.
